While at Wayne State University Law School, Mr. Paterra sat on the Law School Student Board of Governors (1993-1994).

He was awarded best brief writer, Moot Court, in the Arthur Neef Competition, and a semi-finalist for best brief writer, Moot Court, in the Chase National Environmental Law Competition (1994).

Mr. Paterra was recognized by his peers who selected him as a Leading Lawyer. He is an approved trial counsel for Beaumont Health, Michigan Medicine, and Trinity Health and focuses his practice on high exposure birth trauma cases. Mr. Paterra is an active member of the Italian-American Club of Livonia and Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish. He has been a member of the Italian-American Bar Association of Michigan and DRI.

Practice Areas

Mr. Paterra has been in practice for over 25 years. His practice is centered on civil defense litigation and includes complex medical malpractice, premises liability, general negligence, and health law. Carmine specializes in high exposure birth trauma cases. His practice also includes construction, basic corporate, and landlord-tenant claims involving contractual disputes, leases, liens, and licensing issues.
